Sheilla Constance Sidney – Partner, Senior Fashion Designer
Born in Guyana, from a Haitian family spread across the globe, Sheilla was since her early youth exposed to different cultures. Growing in Paris, she soon fell in love with travelling, and while graduating with a Bachelor in Tourism, Sheilla took many trips on different continents, developing her passion for arts, cultures, and civilisations, bringing each time a piece of the culture she was discovering.
In her pursuit of discovering a continent she never came to, Sheilla arrived in Shanghai in 2007. She started to tailor-made herself some clothes where she incorporated the African fabrics brought back from her many trips; until she saw a book about the traditional outfits of the Qing Dynasty. The bright colors, the elegance of the outfits immediately reminded her about the Wax fabric and started to mix the two together in some unique and original pieces. Habesha was born. -
Néhémie Chery – Fashion Designer
From Haitian origins, born in Paris, Néhémie Chery lived in Haiti and Miami until she came back to France at the age of 12 and met a friend she would always be close to, Sheilla.
Growing in Paris, Néhémie always wanted to create clothes however to honour her family’s wishes to study business, she graduated with a European Bachelor of Arts in Marketing and Visuals. With this diploma in hand Néhémie had the opportunity to work within the fashion industry.
Fulfilled with many experiences in fashion and the artistic world, she did not hesitate when her childhood friend, Sheilla offered her to join the Habesha team in Shanghai, allowing the public to view her designs and creative style.
Known to be herself always “over-dressed” in any occasion, Néhémie creates modern, sophisticated and innovative designs which contributes to the originality and diversity of Habesha. -
Sandy Dupuis – Partner, Marketing Director
French-native, passionate with travels and cultures, Sandy speaks French, English and Mandarin.
Co-managing the family business in South of France for few years and with an MBA in International Business in hand, Sandy came to Shanghai in 2006.
After two years of experience in Marketing and Business development in a Chinese company, Sandy was seeking to start her own structure. As many women attracted by fashion, clothing and accessories in Shanghai, she used to have classic, as well more original clothes tailor-made. Therefore, when she met Sheilla, Sandy found herself related to what she was driven by, and what every woman is looking for: some clothing that you don’t see on everybody, both comfortable and elegant. Daren Dairou Baiport – Partner, Finance Director
From a very diverse family background and having lived and travelled all over four continents since his early youth, Daren could not be considered less than a world citizen. From these experiences he learned to listen and understand people as well as to be opened to new ideas.
After a Bachelor in international Trade obtained in France, Dairou completed his education with an MBA in International Business. These courses in France, Spain, USA and China allowed him to have a firm grasp on the international trends, marketing and their evolutions.
Daren started his professional career as a Market Research Analyst on West African markets, slowly evolving to be a Market Research Manager for the Spanish market.
He then continued to develop his understanding of global markets with a position of Marketing Manager in France and then International Business and Investments Consultant in China.
Daren was always known by his family and friends for his taste in fashion. At the beginning of his studies he started a short career as a model, adding an artistic touch to his more pragmatic studies. Later, he spent all his free time working in fashion marketing. So when he fell in love with Sheilla’s cosmopolite designs, joining the Habesha adventure became the most natural thing to do.
Daren is now a founding partner of Habesha and the finance director.
