Habesha Philosophy
Habesha means « to mix » in Amharic, the Ethiopian language. In each of their creations, the designers harmoniously mix their African heritage with the European and Asian styles. The 3 lines of Habesha, “Basic”, “Queen of Sheba”, “Ethnic” and the unique collection for men “Khama” offer a sense of chic, of natural harmony between tradition and modernization.
The two designers harmoniously complete each other to give Habesha its originality and diversity. Sheilla is more natural and inspired by the active women while Néhémie is more sophisticated and modern. A fusion of ideas, of styles, of cultures.
Habesha offers men and women outfits in standard sizes as well as customized designs.
Our designers are full of creative resources, whether the client wants them to create a unique piece from A to Z or having a favourite clothe “Africanized”, Sheilla and Néhémie are happy to bring the outfit that perfectly fits each one of us.
The Wax, an African fabric, is one Habesha’s distinctive element. It is a patterned cotton that uses bright colors, very popular in different countries throughout Africa. The prints will be different depending on the African region: Kioys in Kenya, Kola Nut or Indigo in Gambia, Langa Lapu in South Africa, to list a few. Each tribal group has its own specific preferences for colours, designs, and each print tells a story.
